i am by NO means an expert. i receive emails from time to time and comments on my feed about blogging/instagram tips. id thought i would share with you all on this platform about what's worked best for me to date. if you have any tips for me i would love if you'd also share... i am still learning myself and love to experiment and challenge myself with photography/editing. thanks for stopping by xxx

i typically post photos on my instagram feed that are shot with my samsung galaxy s4. i edit all photos with vsco and my favorite filter is A6. my favorite black and white filter is B2. i import the photo directly from vsco to instagram and from instagram i use the brightness, contrast and sharpen features before i post live for all of YOU! VSCO is my favorite app of all time. often times i tell people that its the only app i need (besides one bus away and starbucks) but you know what i mean..... i use my phone to talk to my family, take photos and edit photos with vsco.

sometimes i will upload photos taken by my Nikon D3100 DSLR camera to my instagram feed. these photos typically have a blur background (that's how you can tell the difference). they are all edited with vsco and uploaded from my phone to my account.

on my blog... these photos are taken with my Nikon D3100 DSLR and are not edited because i dont have a computer editing program that im happy with. im hoping to get a new laptop/photo editing software this next year. if you have any tips i would love to hear. anyone have photoshop? thoughts?

just recently (as in the last week) i discovered a new app called AfterFocus (please note i have a samsung galaxy s4) this is a great app if you'd like to create a blurry background. example photos taken with a cell phone don't get that "blur" you often times see from photos shot with a DSLR. this app can create a similar look.

i hope this post is helpful! if you have any other questions please leave comments in the comment section. i will respond, promise! plus i just love to hear from you (honestly!!! i really do!) xo

  2. Hi Jenna,
We are acquaintances from way back in the day (high school Europe trip?) so you likely don't remember me! But, we are Facebook friends so I discovered your blog after you posted about your Instagram account today. The Internet is creepy sometimes. :) Anyway, I had to share that if you like the VSCOcam app, you should definitely check out VSCO's "VSCO Film" photo-editing software! You can see their different packages here: http://vsco.co/film I use it to edit nearly all of my DSLR photos, and it is AMAZING! They have several different packages of "films", and a few different options depending on your workflow - you can run the process as a Photoshop Action, or as in Camera RAW as part of Adobe Bridge. I subscribe to the photographer's package of Adobe software (Photoshop, Lightroom and Bridge) and it's only $9.99 per month - super cheap! - but mostly edit images in Camera RAW using the VSCO film. It's an awesome set-up and I have been so happy with it since picking it up last year. Just thought I would share, in case you are interested!
    Great blog- love your style!
