scottish lakes high camp post 1

post 1 of 2 of our 3 day visit to scottish lakes high camp here the high camp has 9 cabins available for booking. all the cabins are different. you are shuttled to your cabin by snowmobile because of the location of high camp which you cant get to by car (the snowmobile was one of my favorite parts about the weekend). each cabin is different and holds different group sizes. i also appreciated that it felt like a small community but that each cabin had plenty of privacy and felt almost like you were the only ones on the mountain. my favorite part is that there was no electricity and each cabin had its own fireplace which we kept going through the night. the crackling of a fire never gets old. there are a number of trails to snow shoe and for those who don't mind hiking up the mountain with their skis or snowboard you can ski/board down (the opportunities are endless) there is nothing around but mountains and snow and gorgeous views. john and i love to ski and snowboard but prefer a chair lift ;) so we spent our time snow shoeing and playing board games, reading and sitting in the hot tub which is a barrel out in the middle of the snow. its pretty romantic to sit underneath all of the stars and fresh falling snow. on saturday night we joined the rest of the visitors in the main lodge for social hour. its a potluck style gathering, everyone brings a dish and you get the chance to meet new people. john and i cant wait to go back next year to visit! its become a fast favorite in our book and we had a wonderful time! below are photos from our first snow shoe adventure to glacier view and details about my attire during our hike.
